Following that dire prognosis by Rudy about the state of Dade football. I'm just gonna say that while I agree some of the top teams have looked sluggish, there's still 10 weeks to go in the regular season.

Anyway, for many people who have justifiably been trying to find out scores of games that we didn't get in time from Friday night (or in 2 cases Thursday night), here are some scores.

Gulliver 48, Tampa Berkeley Prep 6
Mater Academy 28, Ransom 10

Palmer Trinity d. Doral (didn't get the score yet, but it wasn't Doral 17, PT 14)
Bay Point 18, University Christian 13
Naples St. John Neumann 33, Westminster Christian 18
Tampa Jesuit 34, Archbishop Curley 10
Belen Jesuit 30, American Heritage-Delray 27 (2OT)

and Thursday's games

Coral Reef 35, Southwest 14

Miami Springs 21, Ferguson 9

We are going to have follow-up coverage in the Sunday paper.

As for a couple of teams I underestimated this week, props to Archbishop Carroll for beating an always strong benjamin squad, as well as Bay Point and Belen for big road wins that I didn't anticipate.

Big game for Bay Point QB Aukebius Wright from what I was told. Stay tuned for our players of the week.

Thank goodness Northwestern decided to bring some respect to Dade County while obliterating Carol City 50-13 tonight.

At least one of our teams looked like something it should look like.

Yeah, my prognosis was pretty dire, but watching those two games Thursday and Friday was pretty depressing.

As for tonight, South Miami has some athletes. Mike Harris makes plays at QB. Charles Wright is a tough stocky running back that can make some plays between the tackles and No. 10 (don't have the roster in front of me) had a nice game as well.

But the kid that stole the show was Sid Hunter, the South Miami defensive end that had two interceptions for touchdowns that propelled the Cobras to a 21-7 win over Krop. He's a nice player, but looks more like a linebacker on the college level.

Krop, truthfully, isn't that good, but they have a few athletes as well that could very well be studs in the future.

Victor Marc at QB is one heck of a physical specimen and he's only a sophomore. He can run and another guy that wears No. 7. The one thing with all these QB's wearing No. 7. YOU AREN'T MICHAEL VICK so don't try to be him just because you wear No. 7. He followed somewhat in the mold of Travaris Cadet trying to run around too much in the backfield.

He committed four turnovers himself, two fumbled snaps and the two picks that led to 14 points. But he has the ability to be a good QB.

WR Anthon Harris is flat out nice. Had an 83 yard punt return for TD. Very fast, great agility and made some sweet moves to create that punt return. It was like butter baby. Watch out for him.

That's about it for tonight. I hope we see some overall better football next week.

By the way, congrats to South Miami coach Eric Washington who won his first game as a head coach.
