the start of something big?

Frank Gore is one of the NFL's top running backs for the
San Francisco 49ers.

But I remember watching his first breakout game while at the
University of Miami which came as a freshman in the Orange Bowl in
2001 against West Virginia when he ran for a pair of
touchdowns and 124 yards.

At the time I was freelancing in college for The Hurricane at UM and having already covered high schools for the Herald for a couple of years, it was a little amusing watching every national reporter wondering, who is this kid??

Well last night at the Orange Bowl, Columbus fans must have had the same feeling when another Gore, Columbus freshman Jahari
Gore ran for 100 yards and scored twice to help the Explorers
win 34-6 against Miami High.

Might be the first of many over the next four years. Columbus will play South Miami next week in a game that will decide the runner-up spot in
District 14-6A.
