Andre,
What do you think about the Tornadoes making a state championship run now that Sancho McDonald is sidelined?

I think it's still possible. Booker T. is more than talented enough and has a lot of depth at different positions. I think Moise is a capable backup, and Brandon Harris will surprise those who still did not know how well he can play the QB position.
He has to become what Doug Wiggins was for NMB last year, the star QB/DB, something he is definitely capable of pulling off.

Sounds like the backup was pretty good, just going by the numbers from last week.
Anytime you lose a starting quarterback, it's going to hurt your title chances. But, I think BTW has enough talent to compensate for the loss. Hopefully Andre can shed more light on this topic.

what do you think about miramar's football team this year and are they a sleeper in 6a?
Posted by: miramar fan | September 25, 2007 at 07:30 PM
I've been voting Miramar fifth in the state poll the past two weeks.
Eugene Smith is a full-out stud at quarterback. His receivers have glue-like grips when they get the ball in their hands. I thought the defense could be an issue, but the Pats shut out Piper last week.
Miramar should be mentioned among Cypress bay, Deerfield Beach and Boyd Anderson when discussing the top Class 6A teams in Broward County.

Miramar has to play both Cypress bay and Boyd Anderson. Do you think they can blow them out like their previous 3 games or were their first 3 games against cupcakes? Also, why does it seem like most of your coverage is toward dade schools because if miramar has another blowout but I wasn't able to see it I want to watch the highlights on their game on this website. To conclude, Miramar has high expectations so be prepared to mention their name in a couple of weeks or so about 6a state championship contenders. Thank you. You guys do a great job.

I don't think either game will be a blowout. Cypress Bay and Boyd Anderson are too good for that to happen. True, BA got shellacked by Lakeland, but that's a different story.
The video highlights are provided by a company with contracts to the schools. More Dade schools signed up than Broward schools, hence, the greater volume in Dade highlights.
Thanks for the kind words.

Hey guys I jus wanted to ask you this: Why are people accusing Columbus of recruting? Would they be doing it if Columbus was losing? They are complaining about players like Mosure from two years ago, why if he was a backup at Palmetto who was never given the chance. Look what he did at columbus...So when Killian wins state after having 7 kids transfer in, or even NW now w/several kids on roster not living in area (eg. Washington), when Thadius Lewis follows his coach to HML, and the tons of kids who followed Rolle to Central all that is "OK" right? Because its public right? Two kids leave an "F" school and all of a sudden Columbus recruits? Every year 2-3 kids transfer to Columbus and many more try that you never hear about but for 95%+ of that team they have been there for 4 years. So where was all of this talk when Killian won state in 2004 with 7 transfers? Then all withdrew the following week to go to University high? I played for fours years and no one credits us for the hard work we put.. What do you guys think about this?
Posted by: Columbus fan | September 25, 2007 at 07:56 PM
I don't know the particulars CF, but I hate recruiting allegations. If people have proof and the recruiting is as blatant as they claim (I'm talking in general, not in this particular case), how come the evidence is very rarely offered up?
I say, if you want to accuse someone of illegal recruiting, either have all your evidence lined up and ready to go or keep the opinion to yourself.

That wraps it up. It's after 8. Time for Andre and I to head to a mutual meeting place with Manny Navarro to record The Countdown.
Check it out late tonight/early tomorrow.
Thanks for the questions!

Thanks guys, just for the record I wasn't accusing the other schools of recruting I was jus stating things that I have seen and heard. I believe every school should get credited for all the hard work they put in everyday. Those accusing schools of recruiting should lay off and just let the kids play. Keep doing a great job guys..

Jamaal Berry of Miami Palmetto Sr leads the county in rushing. Why is this not noted by the Herald?

You know why Columbus gets accused? When Jarvis Givins of Gulliver Prep transfers to a school that is not allowed to accept Seniors in Columbus.....Ding Ding the recruiting bell goes of... On top of that he didnt go to summer workouts and showed up for Two-A-days and was awarded a starting job from a kid who was at the school for four years and worked hard all four years and was going to earn his 3rd letter on Varsity... O and when the head coach picks up some of his players from Cutlerridge... Ask the Southridge coach if Columbus recruits. His team is wearing red and blue instead of black... Your not fooling anyone that Columbus recruits...

Columbus recruits.... PERIOD
Posted by: Joe | September 26, 2007 at 11:43 PM
you all just got some sour grapes towards columbus... IF columbus recruits it would probably be based on " come to columbus you can get a BETTER education here". how many non-athlete students put down a family memebers address just to attend a better school. with your mentality you are saying students should not atend a better school b/c of their district

Some people cant stand sucess ie columbus look at the number of sucessful kids from that school and not just the football players check the stats the most kids (football) to attend college than any other school period!

It would do alot of doughters some good to do a little homework on B.T.W. back up Q.B. Torrance Moise, before jumping Off the wagon. He's been earning his own, since his not so long ago days at Gwen Cherry, were he led the baby bulls, on several championships. So just sit back, have some faith, and watch the show.
