Making a splash

The Class 1A swimming finals were earlier tonight, and although the Pine Crest girls fell to Bolles for the 17th consecutive year, the Panthers had plenty to be proud of. Senior captain Brooke Atkinson, who has been swimming for Pine Crest since middle school, finally won her first state title, taking first in the 50 free. Teammate Stephanie Eisenring won titles in the 100 and 200 freestyle in her first years swimming for the Panthers.

For Miami-Dade, Ransom's Michael and Maddy Rosenthal both placed third in the 200 IM. All season long, these two have matched each other in just about every meet, including last week's regional meet where they both won.

The 2A meet is tomorrow with Belen Jesuit looking  to become the first Miami-Dade team since the 1960's to win back-to-back titles. Broward's big day will be Saturday when the Douglas boys look to repeat.
