The girls volleyball regional finals were Saturday and South Florida will send four teams to this week's state finals in Lakeland.
In Broward, St. Thomas Aquinas swept West Boca despite star hitter Tosin Elebute sitting out with an ankle injury. Raiders coach Lisa Zielinski said she will be playing on Wednesday though. And Pine Crest earned some revenge against Florida Christian for last year's regional final loss, beating the Patriots in five. The other two Broward teams - Cypress Bay and Cardinal Gibbons - both lost in five games.
For Dade, Killian advances for the third straight year, while Redlands Christian will make its first trip.






Everyone is so happy about the Northwestern Bulls and Booker T. Washington winning. Now if only they could get just as much support to become "A" schools or have students pass the FCAT. Many of these athletes will not go to college because they are uneducated.
