Soccer Time

Girls soccer coaches from around the state in Class 6A are breathing just a bit easier after Thursday's regional quarterfinals. Douglas fell to Cooper City in penalty kicks, ending a  streak of five consecutive state soccer titles, the most in state history by a public school. Congrats Cowboys.

Elsewhere around South Florida, there were few surprises other than Douglas loss. Lourdes rallied to beat Palmetto in one of the area's biggest games, while Varela edged out Gables 1-0. In Broward, Cypress Bay won handidly, and Gibbons and Archbishop McCarthy both won, setting up the fourth meeting between the two teams this season.

Mr. Fernandez and Mr. Emanuel Jr. I have entered the High school soccer seen, WOW! The amount of injuries I have witness are uncalled for and the lack of sportsmanship is almost extinct. I hear the players and the coaches express themselves in ways that are unprofessional. I would like to see communication amoung all concerned. But, first we need stats. How many injuries, true witness that are not in conflict with schools to report about the dirty side in a game. I think this is important plus the REFS. in a game set a tone. How qualified are they and do the have the interest to keep players safe from those who just out to terminate another player. Literally, hit that playes so hard they will be out for the season.
