Tonight's emotional game

They'll have a prayer before the game. They'll have a big "get well" card for everyone to sign.

Yes, the folks at Cardinal Gibbons certainly will do plenty to honor Nick Williams before and during tonight's regional against Archbishop McCarthy (6 p.m. at Cardinal Gibbons), after the star junior was severely injured in a car wreck early Sunday morning.

Even better news: According to coach Marcy Meyer, Williams was improving slowly but steadily, even able to hold a couple of people's hands Tuesday. Meyer also said Williams' elbow surgery Monday night was successful (according to Williams' father, Jim, the 16-year-old sustained a compound fracture in his left elbow).

"Every positive thing is like a ray of light," Meyer said.

That'll show tonight in the Cardinal Gibbons gym.
