Putting out the list of Class of 2010 players in our weekly recruiting column has opened up a flood of others who we didn’t mention.
While we said it was a sampling of the upcoming class in South Florida, many reminded us about some of the top players who are getting it done in the summer so far.
Palmetto offensive lineman Ronald Regula (6-1, 240), who was one of the players we saw during the spring, is in Georgia this weekend to participate in the Ultimate 100 Camp, which he was invited to as the OL MVP for the National Underclassmen Combine held in Boca Raton back in February.
Another quality Class of 2010 offensive line prospect is Perry Meiklejohn (6-4, 295) from Westminster Christian. Last season, Meiklejohn attended Coral Reef and started every game at center. He attended the recent University of Miami Summer Camp and more than held his own with fellow 2010 player Jose Jose of Booker T. Washington and Hurricane commitment Corey White from Fleming Island (Jacksonville area).
Meiklejohn ran a 5.06 (40 yard dash) and turned in other good combine numbers. He has also been invited to Florida States ‘Camping With The Stars’ on July 19.
Finally, if you have been a UM fan and have followed high school football through the years, you will remember Dave Heffernan, who was a tremendous player for the ‘Canes back in the 1980s. Well, the next generation of the Heffernan football playing is turning some heads. Class of 2010 middle linebacker Tommy Heffernan (6-2, 200) is slated to start for the Explorers in 2008.
If you have more players who we need to know about, just drop a line.
