South Florida High School Football on ESPNU this weekend

What's up prep bloggers,

Just a reminder if you own DirecTV or you want to catch some high school football at a local sports bar, ESPNU has two big games invlolving South Florida teams on the menu Friday and Saturday.

Friday at 8 p.m., Pahokee takes on national championship contender Byrnes of South Carolina.

If you follow football in 'The Muck' you remember that Byrnes beat Glades Central a couple of years ago up there in a game that was televised on ESPN.

Then, Saturday at 3:30 p.m., coach Mark Guandolo takes Cypress Bay to Texas to take on Katy High. It's the Lightning's first game outside of Florida.

Over in Miami-Dade, you also have NMB taking on 22-time Louisiana state champion John Curtis in a 1 p.m. kickoff on CBS College Sports TV, which can also be found on DirectTV.

I'll likely be in Lakeland to cover Killian as they try to become the first Miami team since....well, a long time to win a game in Lakeland, when they play the Dreadnaughts at 7 Friday.

RICK TRUTH SPEAKER

NOT TO SOUND DISRESPECTFUL, BUT BYRNES AND LAKELAND MUST COME FROM THE SAME MOLD. LOOKS LIKE THE ONLY TIME THEY ARE WILLING TO PLAY VERY GOOD COM PETITION IS WHEN THEY STAY AT HOME TO DO IT. GLADES CENTRAL PLAYED BYRNES LAST YEAR AT BYRNES HOME AND NOW PAHOKEE IS PLAYING BYRNES AGAIN AT BYRNES HOME. LAKELAND PLAYED KILLIAN LAST YEAR IN LAKELAND AND NOW THIS YEAR IN LAKELAND. THIS IS THE REASON I RESPECTED NORTHWESTERN'S NATIONAL TEAM: THEY BEAT THE BEST AT THE BEST HOME PLACE. THAT'S WHAT TRUE CHAMPIONS DO. PSALMS 22:28

IN RESPONSE TO "RICK TRUTH SPEAKER" POST ABOVE.

Byrnes is willing and ABLE to play anybody anywhere.

ESPN SETS UP THESE TELEVISION GAMES.
THEY KNOW THAT THE FACILITIES AT BYRNES ARE ABLE TO HANDLE ESPN PUTTING ON THE GAME. THE STADIUM IS RIGHT OFF THE INTERSTATE THAT GOES FROM ATLANTA TO CHARLOTTE. IT IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE BMW MANUFACTURING PLANT FOR NORTH AMERICA BMW'S. ALSO, ESPN PAYS THE SCHOOLS A SET FEE AND ESPN COLLECTS MONEY BACK FROM THE GATE RECIEPTS WHICH IS REQUIRED TO BE $10 A TICKET. ESPN NOTICED THAT BYRNES STILL DRAWS 12,000 NO MATTER WHAT THE PRICE. SOME OF THEIR GAMES AT OTHER HIGH SCHOOL LOCATIONS WON'T REACH CAPACITY BECAUSE OF THAT PRICE AND BEING ON TV. ESPN LIKES TO GO TO PLACES WHERE THEY CAN RECOUPE THEIR MONEY.

AND ESPN FIGURES IT WOULD MEAN MORE TO THE FLORIDA TEAMS TO BE ABLE TO TRAVEL.

PLUS ESPN FIGURES THAT BYRNES ALREADY TRAVELS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO PLAY. EXAMPLES: To OHIO 2 TIMES in past 3 years, TO GEORGIA, TO Tennessee, To LOUSIANA, TO ALABAMA in the past 6 years.

NEXT YEAR THEY PLAY TEXAS STATE CHAMPION KATY TEXAS AT THE NEW DALLAS COWBOY STADIUM DURING THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND. SO "RICK TRUTH SPEAKER" YOUR ARGUEMENTS ARE NOT VALID.

PLUS THIS, in THIS PAST SUMMER 7 on 7 TOURNAMENTS, BYRNES PLAYED IN ALABAMA, GEORGIA, OREGON. in THE PAST 5 YEARS THEY HAVE GONE TO 7 ON 7 TOURNAMENTS IN Tenn., Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia AND Maryland. THEY WON THE NIKE COMPETITION IN OREGON THIS PAST JULY. IN FACT THEY WILL BE FEATURED IN AN UPCOMING NIKE COMMERCIAL because of that.

ANYWAY BYRNES MOTTO IS ANYWHERE ANYTIME
