With the season winding down, all-star teams will soon be chosen by The Miami Herald and other outlets in the region. If you had to make one all-star team of players from Miami-Dade and Broward, regardless of school size or grade, what would be the perfect first team for the nation's elite football region?
Is Eugene Smith your quarterback? How about the trio of Lamar Miller, Brandon Gainer and Devon Wright in the backfield with Gio Bernard, Corvin Lamb, James White and Eduardo Clements moving to the second team?
Who would be your kicker, defensive backfield, linebackers, linemen and receivers? What one head coach would you choose to direct this team?
Let's see who you would pick to face off with Los Angeles, Houston, Cincinnati, Atlanta or Dallas for the best prospect region in the country?

You would have to consider Steven Jacques and Ashley Bullock from South Broward for the offensive line. Definite Steven Jacques (committed to Auburn already)

THIS IS NO EASY SELECTION AND I MIGHT BE BIASED, BUT I HOPE I'M NOT. QUARTERBACK WOULD BE EITHER EUGENE SMITH OR JEFFREY GODFREY. RUNNING BACKS WOULD HAVE TO INCLUDE HARGRETT, GORE, BERRY AND MILLER. THIS YEAR IS FAR MORE EVEN THAN LAST YEAR, BUT I STILL FEEL NORTHWESTERN WILL WIN ANOTHER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. PSALMS 14

QB- Flores, NMB
RB- Miller, Killian
RB- Gore, Columbus
RB- Berry, Palmetto
I'd also add Oliver, Southridge
OL- Myers, Palmetto
K- Karpiak, Palmetto (kid has one of the strongest legs I have seen in a long time in Dade) and he also has to play QB full-time.
I'll defer to my colleagues on the rest of the selections.

Just put the whole STA team in & subtract out from there
It's gonna be a tough ticket to be All City 1st Team much less All State this yr,
espc at QB, WR & RB. Teams are just loaded at the offensive skill positions

OL-RENATO CUNHA (JACKSON)
Kid is a monster...6'4", 300 lbs, 17 years old! Underrated because he was on a losing team. But RB's ypc was above a 6.0. Know your football Dade County. Stop only looking for the name of the school, look for the players

One more thing. Lineman Coach at Jackson Gui Cunha has done an amazing job. 4 out of his 5 OL got full Division 1 athletic scholarships. You wanna go to college, then you go play for Coach Cunha at Jackson.

Swami Smith this the South Florida teams, these players are excellent players and will be all state but we are just talking about South Florida. By the way, Ben Dusek, coming from up north is a hellafide return man and quarterback he runs easily in the 4.3 range. Great team you picked just different region.

what did the big de do against carroll?
Posted by: abcfan | November 24, 2008 at 01:24 AM
(Fact)I know one thing Branden Oliver is the tuffest running back in dade, this kid wears down defenses. Hes played against all the top teams just go ask them (NW132YRS,BTW153YRS,KIL130YRS,) who was the tuffest back they faced this yr. He's very durable 194 carries without getting hurt and can give and take the pounding. Some RB's on these list either didn't play half the season or didn't play in every game because of injuries. the college that gets this kid wounld've found a diamond in the ruff
Posted by: #1fan | November 24, 2008 at 03:55 AM
he did not do to good against carroll but the kid is really good and have amazing strength and on top of that this is the kid first year ever playing high school football and do you see the type of numbers he put up you have to be impressed with it
Posted by: lasalle | November 24, 2008 at 10:18 AM
he did not do too good against carroll but the kid is really good and his numbers speak for its self you would not believe the type of strength this kid have.Did you know this is the kid fisrt year playing high school football you have to be impressed you cannot find too many kids that can do that
