Here's my predictions, winners listed
1A
AMERICAN HERITAGE Delray Beach- defending State Champs
GLADES DAY
1B
JUPITER CHRISTIAN- defending State Champs
2A
GULLIVER PREP- wins a tough rematch w Carroll. Gulliver has a lot of confidence & momentum after beating undefeated N Broward Prep
2B
PAHOKEE- the class of 2B, wins State again rather easily
3A
GLADES CENTRAL- playing w a lot of confidence w new coach Jesse Hester (ex GC/FSU/OAK star). Also beat Dywer this yr & Pahokee in Muck Bowl which means they usu get to State Finals when that happens, however they lost their starting QB against Belen, so this should be a close interesting game.
4A
DWYER- my prediction to win State this yr. Only loss was to Glades Central 6-0 in 4 OT's this yr. Will win easily this wk & if they stay injury free will beat BTW in regionals, Armwood in Semis & wipes the field w whoever in the finals. Great Defense (think '03 Carol City)
BTW- I think their in Hallandales head. Clements at RB will be the differences for BTW
5A
ST THOMAS AQUINAS- will be close at first but wins rather easily, also wins State in the toughest Class in Football this yr by far
DELRAY BEACH ATLANTIC
6A
VERO BEACH- always a good playoff team, until they run into a Miami-Dade Team in the Semis.
DEERFIELD BEACH- see Vero Beach
KILLIAN- their lackluster play against Sunset will have them focused in practice this week. Palmetto has a slight chance if Berry runs for 300 yds & Killian has 4 turnovers
MIRAMAR- I'm going w Smith, Bailey & the pass over the run in this one. I thought Miramar might be dead after losing 49-2 to STA in the last reg season game, but that winning drive & last second tipped TD pass in the Carol City game last week changed all that. Look for Smith to light up Cypress Bay for 400 passing yds
CENTRAL- hope they play this in the Orange Bowl for the kids sake. I'm going w Central because they are on fire offensively & defense is making big plays as well. NW is too banged up w key players, espc RB so I gotta favor Gainer against their RB's and definitely will take Godfrey over Bridgewater, however if Todd Chandler plays like he did for NW in '07, it could be a long day for Gainer at RB. He's the key to NW's defense. Whoever turns the ball over the least will win. This game is the State Final IMO. 6A is off this yr & whoever wins this game should win State this yr, however anything can happen. Apopka or Dr Phillips could always get lucky because the State Final is in Orlando which is a home game for them, however I highly doubt it, they dont see athletes during the yr like Miami-Dade teams have, ask undefeated Orlando Boone last yr-that is until they met NW in the finals and got smoked 41-0.

does anyone know if they're gonna play NW vs Central at the Orange Bowl & if it's gonna be televised. I heard they dont want to play at OB because FIU vs FAU are playing on Sat Night & they have concerns about the field getting torn up. Move the game to Thurs Nite if that's the problem. Personally I thnk more people will show up for the NW vs Central game. Look for 40k people if it's at the OB. Sounds like a lot of money for the FHSAA, Miami Dade County & the 2 schools.

Die Hard 305 Fan, I think you have been living in a hole and not the "305". For your information, the Orange Bowl is no longer standing it has been torn down so it would be impossible for them to play the NW v Central game at that site unless they want to play through all the ruble and have 40 k people sit on the hood of their cars.

Anyways, lets go Palmetto you guys lost the cat trophy game, but go get em in the playoffs. If they do that i see a reversal from 2004 when Palmetto won in the regular season and lost in the playoffs and then Bobby Washington carried Killian to the semis in this case Palmetto can ride the back of Berry to the state championship.

Mello

Central beats nw again.............!

semour butts lol

You really think berry can carry that team??? haha thats a joke. Please do not compare a team to the caliber of Killian 04 to the Palmetto team this year.

Die Hard 305 Fan

I still call Joe Robbie the OB when I'm typing & not thinking. Goes back to the HS games I saw there in the early 70's before Joe Robbie was even built. Anyway I saw they moved the game to Sat nite at FIU, which is good. They probably get it on TV now and make some money for the FHSAA, GMAC, NW & Central. Should be a sellout & a standing room only crowd. There's a lot of statewide interest in this game, people from up North took notice when NW took out Columbus & their undefeated #1 ranking last wk.

My bad on the OB/Joe Robbie thing

abcfan

not joe robbie anymore :) its now Dolphins Stadium

Semour Butts

if palmetto beats Killian this week they made it as far as the 04 Killian team. so why is it unreasonable to make that comparison. what is your take on the game this week between the two teams

the killian 04 team can not be compared because of the talent on that team. try 10 D1 commits including juniors and won states the next year with the same team, yeah please dont compare that to palmetto who only has beat a sorry southwest team.

Pantherfan

The Palmetto 04 team was perhaps the best in terms of how far they got given the differential to what they lost to Killian by (and the fact they beat them earlier in the season). Take a look at Killian's route through the playoffs for that year and the score differential vs. other teams all the way through the state championship. Palmetto's 04 team handled Killian the best of any. Palmetto's 04 team is way different from the 08 team, though give the 08 team very good credit for getting where they are, and for most of the season without their highly talented RB, Jaamal Berry. Palmetto is probably exactly where they should be.

I wouldn't go to say Southwest was a sorry team. They beat Sunset who gave Killian one hell of game. Take back some bad calls and the Cougars could have been watching from the stands the rest of the playoffs. That Sunset offense caught Killian way off guard.

I expect this Palmetto vs. Killian game to be closer than the last time around, but yeah I agree with you...that Killian 04 team was a different apple.

Central is going to crush nw........!

as expected killian chopped up on palmetto. berry got stopped and lamar just scored another touchdown as we speak.

It'll always be Joe Robbie Stadium to me

Pantherfan

Semour, I wouldn't call Berry averaging 7 yards a carry getting stopped. Because Berry can run around the end, up the middle, that's why he's ranked higher nationally than Miller, but Berry also doesn't have the same supporting staff on the line that Miller has. Put Berry on Killian, you'll find he'd have gained more yards than Miller did with them. Palmetto's o-line is almost entirely juniors and sophomores.

With as good an offensive line as Killian has, Miller should easily be able to run up the middle. He'll need to if they are going to advance in the playoffs, because other teams are going to be faster and bigger than Palmetto or Sunset. Unfortunately, everytime they ran wildcat, Miller couldn't do a thing.

However, best of luck to the Cougars in the playoffs, we'd rather have a district neighbor take home the state championship. ;) It helps Palmetto and the rest of us look a lot better. A lot Killian and Palmetto players, even Miller and Berry, are good friends though they are rivals.

semour butts lol

palmetto o line is way bigger then killians just to let you know. maybe you also forgot berry had thst many yards because he had 24 carries. but in college we'll see whose better mayb not bc berry will never see the field

Pantherfan

He had 20 carries not 24. Were you at the game? Miller is the one that had 24 carries.

Palmetto's o-line is not bigger than Killian's.

I think Miller is the one that ain't going to see the field. Bryce Brown is going to be getting the ball every running play.

amar7

I wouldn't diss Berry, he reads this stuff. Last time I checked, Miller had more carries then Berry last night.

Cougarfan

If you want someone who can't run inside, try Jakhari Gore. Killian vs. Columbus game proved that. Berry's an excellent back though and he'll do great at Ohio State. Plus, he's been injured for most of the year and his team still did well. Miller however offers a fuller option than Berry as he can also return kicks, though I am not sure after going to the game last night what Berry can do there as I didn't see him back on punts or kicks.

semour butts lol

Well millers team will be playing next week while berry watches. though berry probably could careless given that he didnt play the whole bc he was scared to get hurt, with a fake high ankle sprain for the whole season.

BullsBullsBulls

Cougars are going to bow down to the Bulls. Berry, Gore and Miller can all sit in the stands together.

Ms. Bull

BullsBullsBulls - that's funny!

So.. the North vs the South of Dade County! Who have better players???

Well seeing that I'm a Bull - can you tell who I think is going to win??
