Two South Florida football players selected to World Junior Championship Tournament

The wide receiving corps of Team USA this summer is going to look familiar to South Florida football fans.

Columbus wide receiver Erik Lora and Coral Springs Charter wide out Jamal Davis were each named to the USA Football Junior National team Tuesday. That team will compete against a World squad June 27-July 5th at Canton, Ohio.

The eight-nation tournament will include teams of athletes 19-under representing Canada, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico and Sweden.

Lora, an All-Dade first team wide receiver, was a major part of Columbus' 9-1 season before signing with Eastern Illinois.

These days, he's excelling on the track for the Explorers. Lora had the top qualifying time for the South region of the GMAC tournament Tuesday, winning the 110 and 300 hurdles. He'll be a top seed in the finals Thursday night at Traz Powell Stadium.

Davis, a first team All-Broward choice, will be showing off his skills at Florida Atlantic University next season.
