Basford is going to Wake Forest

When Elite Scouting Services President Charles Fishbein saw Jacksonville Bishop Kenny tight end Neil Basford last year, he felt the 6-4, 230-pounder was one of the players to watch in the state of Florida.

On Friday, Basford become the sixth Floridian to verbally commit to Wake Forest. Joining Pahokee’s Zachary Allen and Merrill Noel, Boca Raton quarterback Eddie Sullivan, Cape Coral Ida Baker tight end Jonathan Garcia and Jacksonville Bolles safety Desmond Cooper, Basford will continue a steady pipeline from the Sunshine State to Winston Salem.

“Talented football player,” said Fishbein. “One of those young men who seemed to improve every time we watched him play. Wake Forest is so in tune to getting top Florida talent.”
It was Fishbein and he ESS staff who actually put Basford’s name out to a number of colleges last season after watching him and talking with his coaches.

In that time, schools such as Arkansas, FSU, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Miami and Illinois all showed a lot of interest in Basford after he caught 16 passes a registered 4 touchdowns last season.
