1A STATE FINAL: Championship: American Heritage 30, Trinity Christian 20, (Final)

ORLANDO - For the second time in three years, American Heritage Delray comes away with a state title.

Coach Willie Bueno's Stallions capped off a brilliant season with a 30-20 win over previously unbeaten Jacksonville Trinity Christian at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

American Heritage Delray got on the board first at the 2:49 mark of the first quarter when Harewood Higgs and Casey Shoemaker combined to tackle Marvel Taylor in the endzone for a safety.

Trinity Christian took a 6-2 lead when Andrew Buie found Charles Hawkins for a 20-yard scoring strike with 11:07 left in the first half.

American Heritage took a 9-6 lead with 6:55 left in the first half when West Virginia University-bound Darius Millines scored on a 5-yard run.

Millines came back with :11 left in the first half as he scored on a 49-yard and a 16-6 advantage.

Buie cut the lead to 16-13 with 7:06 left in the third quarter when he went 35 yards.

Millines extended the Stallions lead to 23-13 with 3:24 left in the third quarter on a 22-yard scamper.

Ahmad Christian narrowed the gap to 23-20 when he bolted 99 yards with 7:34 left in the game.

Millines scored once again with 1:55 left in the game when he went in from the two. The point after gave the Stallions a 30-20 advantage.
