3A state championship: Belen-Pensacola

ORLANDO - We're at the Citrus Bowl where at 1 p.m. Belen Jesuit (11-3) will take on Pensacola (12-1) for the Class 3A state championship. The Wolverines and Tigers have never played each other before or for a state title. Pensacola was named the state champion in 1959, four years before the FHSAA had a playoff system put in place.

Pensacola enters the game with one of the state's most respected defenses. The Tigers have allowed 88 total points this season. Belen Jesuit presents an interesting task for the Tigers. Their offensive formation, the wing-T, is rarely used in the Pensacola area.

Miami Herald Sports Writers Manny Navarro, Andre Fernandez and Larry Blustein will be at the game providing live updates on the blog and Twitter. The game is being televised on SunSports. But you can also follow along here and participate in the blog discussion below.
