ORLANDO -- We're at the Citrus Bowl where at 7 p.m. Miramar (13-1) will take on DeLand (13-1) for the Class 6A state championship. The Patriots and Bulldogs have never played each other before or played for a state title.
DeLand enters the game with one of the top defenses in the state with seven shutouts on the season. Star linbeacker Mark Joyce (USF commitment) leads that defense. Offesnively, the Bulldogs run the Single Wing attack with University of Florida commitment DeAnte 'Pop' Saunders (1,685 yards, 22 TDs) behind center. Senior running back Shontrell Johnson (1,950 yards, 19 TDs) is the other workhorse. Miramar's defense is no pushover either. The Patriots led by linebackers Jamaal Bass and Dominick Bryan haven't allowed an opponent to score more than seven points in 12 of their 14 games. Offensively, quarterback Ryan Williams heads up a spread offensive attack. He has several talented weapons to get the ball to including star receivers Dante Chambers, Ivan McCartney and running back Jeremiah Hicks.
Miami Herald Sports Writers Manny Navarro, Andre Fernandez and Larry Blustein will be at the game providing live updates on the blog and on Twitter. The game is being televised by FSN. But you can also follow along here and participate in the blog discussion below.

man miami needs to go after this wide receiver and qb from miramar, plus their running back looks really fast and good.
