HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Dan Epstein

Dan Epstein1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Dan Epstein
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: Cypress Bay
CITY: Weston
POSITION: RB
HEIGHT: 5-10
WEIGHT: 200
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Mark Guandolo

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: One of the top players in South Florida that many have not had the chance to see.

After an impressive sophomore season, he came back last year and picked up right where he left off before an injury sidelined him for the rest of the season, cutting back on the exposure that many juniors receive.

While he is coming back at his own pace, not trying to push things too much, there is a reason to believe that he will have a huge year, creating a traffic jam of colleges pouring into a campus that has more than had its share of talented athletes over the past five years.

Comes from a football-oriented family where his father played and currently coaches at the youth level, and his younger brother is one of the up-and-coming stars.
