HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Denzel Perryman

Perryman1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Denzel Perryman
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: Coral Gables
CITY: Coral Gables
POSITION: LB
HEIGHT: 5-11
WEIGHT: 210
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Joe Montoya

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Ever since he was in the ninth grade, all eyes were on this gifted football talent who not only played linebacker, but actually ran the ball some for the Cavaliers. He was a dominating player from the first time he stepped on the playing field.

Has drawn many comparisons to one time Coral Gables great linebacker Jon Vilma, who has certainly gone on and accomplished some great things at the collegiate and professional level.

Perryman is a quick, strong football talent who makes plays. Has attracted interest from colleges as far back as two years ago, but now, a number of those schools are making offers to get him on campus.

If he stays healthy, he will ned with more varsity starts than most of the other players in this class, and that has given him more time to showcase his talents.
