HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Matthew Vincent

Matthew-Vincent1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Matthew Vincent
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: Everglades
CITY: Miramar
POSITION: QB
HEIGHT: 6-2
WEIGHT: 185
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Josh Shapiro

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: After watching him play a number of times a year ago in the progressive offense that Flanagan runs, you had to be impressed with his arm strength, ability to run the ball and create positives for the offense.

While he changed schools and is introduced to new players, coaches and a new scheme, he has picked things up quickly, putting himself in a position where he is one of the top quarterback prospects around.

To fully appreciate this quality football talent, just check out some of the things he does. Watching him this spring with college coaches on hand, they were impressed with his release, foot-speed and knowledge of the defenses.

This is a player everyone will keep an eye on as the Gators make another playoff push in 2010.
