HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Ricardo Williams

Ricardo WilliamsHomestead1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Ricardo Williams
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: Homestead
CITY: Homestead
POSITION: DE
HEIGHT: 6-5
WEIGHT: 212
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Bobby McCray

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Was there a player who turned heads the past few months more than this gifted athlete who was first noticed as a sophomore, enhanced his overall standing last season with a huge year, and then showcased his many abilities at testing combines in the off season.

While colleges are keeping a close eye and projecting what this talented football player will be like when he fully matures and puts on weight, all have been very impressed with his quickness and overall athletic ability.

There is sense, after watching him play twice live a year ago, that this could be one of the real gems in this class. Is still learning and maturing.

Those who have competed against him believe that he is one of the up and coming stars in Miami-Dade County.
