Haughton-James1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Russell Haughton-James
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: American Heritage
CITY: Plantation
POSITION: OL
HEIGHT: 6-5
WEIGHT: 280
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Byron Walker

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The road has been much traveled for this impressive line prospect, who began his high school career at Cypress Bay, moved to North Broward Prep, Western and now has settled in with a program that knows so very well the value of having a quality offensive line.

While he never established himself with any one team, college coaches have been watching this imposing football talent for three years.

Make no mistake, this is a football player who will continue to turn heads with his impressive size, strength and overall athletic ability as a football player.

With many people around him that have helped to guide him in the past, this coming year should be a very good year for the Patriots and Haughton-James.
