Bridgewater, Gray on radio Wednesday

As the summer winds down, there are more events to cover throughout south Florida, and the WQAM (560 AM) High School Gridiron Report is on top of all the action.

On Wednesday night's show between 9-10, Larry Blustein and Mike Levine will talk about last week's Nike Camp as well as recent area commitments Nick Menocal (Belen Jesuit/University of Miami), Cedric Thompson (Miramar Everglades/UCF), Denzel Wimberly (Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons/Central Michigan) and Devonta Freeman (Miami Central/FSU).

Larry and Mike will also talk about WQAM jumping into the high school football coverage with a game every Friday night during the fall.

In addition to all the information, University of Miami prize recruit Teddy Bridgewater will join the show to talk about his summer, which includes a 7-on-7 tournament in Alabama this weekend with the South Florida Express, Oregon next weekend with his Northwestern teammates as the Bulls look to defend their national title, and finally, July 17 in the Nike South Florida finals.

One of the teams who has fully taken advantage of the summer 7-on-7 tour is Pompano Beach Blanche Ely. The Tigers have been to five straight events, and head coach Rodney Gray will join the show to talk about the benefits of staying busy during the summer.

Last year, Gray took over Ely and won the district and nearly surprised power St. Thomas Aquinas.

Ely is one of the top 12 teams who will compete for the Nike team title on July.
