Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.
With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.
PLAYER: Abe Coleman
YEAR: 2012
SCHOOL: Jackson
CITY: Miami
POSITION: QB
HEIGHT: 5-11
WEIGHT: 185
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Nigel Dunn
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Here is one of the emerging prospects in the state of Florida. After coming over from Hialeah American for his junior year, there is a belief that this talented prospect will see his stock rise.
Started two years at the varsity level, which has given him plenty of experience. But his off season work by attending camps and instructional events has truly helped him turn the corner as college coaches have already started to take notice.
Has a very good arm, understands how to read defenses. You can see his maturity and growth coming together right before your eyes. This is a quarterback to keep an eye on over the next two years.
