HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Eric Kinsey

Kinsey1 Northwestern
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Eric Kinsey
YEAR: 2012
SCHOOL: Northwestern
CITY: Miami
POSITION: DE
HEIGHT: 6-3
WEIGHT: 215
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Billy Rolle

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Seeing nearly 100 games a year, as well as watching and spending time at several practices, camps and combines, you tend to get a feel of what athletes are on the verge of emerging.

If you see enough top-flight athletes, you can then compare against the live competition you are watching statewide to make a determination, and in the case of Kinsey, there are few in this class, or any other class, that have the ability this young man has.

His quickness, ability to put pressure on the quarterback and drop into pass coverage has already turned heads at this level – and beyond. College coaches we have talked to believe that this is going to be a national recruit throughout his junior and senior season.

Very seldom do you have an athlete, this young, have his older and more experienced teammates talking about his future greatness. Of all the tremendous athletes across the state of Florida for the Class of 2012, here is one who you will hear plenty about!
