HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Kevin Grooms

Kevin Grooms1 South Broward
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Kevin Grooms
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: South Broward
CITY: Hollywood
POSITION: RB
HEIGHT: 5-10

HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Allen Held

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The advantage of watching athletes perform from the first time they were old enough to compete at the youth football level is a huge advantage, and out of so many in this class, very few have had the impressive past Grooms has enjoyed.

Talk about your "youth football legend", here is an athlete who left his mark nearly 10 years ago as a youngster who played in Dania and Northeast Hollywood, showcasing skills that youngsters rarely have at the age of 8 or 9.

Anyone who has watched him play football or basketball, will tell you that this is as gifted a talent as you will find. Combining speed and athleticism, here is a talent who has the ability to play running back or defensive back at the next level and make a major impact!

While he has taken very few visits during the recruiting process, here is a football player that many feel can lead Broward County in rushing, interceptions and kickoff and punt return yardage. He is that good and dominating!
