HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Nikorey Benyard

Nikorey Benyard1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will shine the spotlight on many athletes during the spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

PLAYER: Nikorey Benyard
YEAR: 2011
SCHOOL: Miami Springs
CITY: Miami Springs
POSITION: LB
HEIGHT: 6-0
WEIGHT: 210
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Alex Pacheco

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: After watching this talented prospect three times last season – in two games and at a combine, this is a player who has certainly made some major strides on the football field from the first time we watched him as a sophomore.

From the first time we watched him play, it was evident that if you want to find this aggressive player is to locate the ball. On six of eight plays made in one of the games we watched, he was in on the tackle or right there to close the play almost every time.

While he doesn't have blazing speed, his knowledge of football certainly goes a long way in helping him react to plays with an amazing success rate.

He is a physical football player who colleges will need to continue to watch throughout the season to appreciate the things he does to help his teams succeed!
