On Tuesday night (9-10), Larry Blustein and Mike Levine welcome in South Dade quarterback Jovani McCray, Cypress Bay head coach Mark Guandolo and Southridge head coach Patrick Burrows to the special playoff edition.
All three guests on the show are gearing up for the second round of the state playoffs.
FLYING BENEATH THE RADAR
If any player in South Florida has not received the attention he truly deserves is McCray, who has led the Buccaneers to a pair of state playoff appearances, advancing to the third round last year before losing to Central.
McCray and his district championship teammates will host Southridge, a team they had beaten earlier this year, 20-0, but this is the playoffs and things always change.
The 6-1, 180-pounder has been among the top quarterback prospects the past two years.
GUANDOLO IS BACK!
At the start of the season, Guandolo and his young football program felt that a playoff appearance could be a possibility if the team came together and matured.
With a district championship in hand and a convincing first round win over Dr. Krop, the objective this week is a talented North Miami Beach squad that beat Everglades in the opening round last week.
Cypress Bay has a number of young athletes mixing with veteran players as Guandolo and the Lightning look to make a statement on Friday night at home.
NEW SEASON, DIFFERENT ATTITUDE
Nobody has changed the landscape of South Miami Dade County like Burrows has the past three years as a coach at Southwest Miami and then Southridge, where he led the Spartans to a district title a year ago and then finished second this season.
There is a lot at stake this week as Army All-American Gerod Holliman and the Spartans look to avenge an early season loss to South Dade as well as a setback last year in the playoffs.
Burrows and his team came up with a huge opening round win last week against Braddock.
