Another one of Miami-Dade County's top recruits is heading to Tallahassee.
Coral Park linebacker Arrington Jenkins announced Tuesday morning he is committing to Florida State. Jenkins, a 6-3, 220-pounder, who came to Coral Park as a senior after a couple of solid seasons at Killian, is rated the No. 8 overall prospect in Miami-Dade County by The Miami Herald, and No. 2 among linebackers.
Jenkins is also ranked No. 43 among linebackers nationally by Rivals.com.
Coral Park coach Tim Wood said Jenkins committed late Monday night, choosing the Noles over Illinois and Minnesota.
"He really enjoyed Minnesota and Illinois after the trips he took there recently," Wood said in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon. "But FSU won him over in the end since they had been after him since his sophomore year at Killian. He obviously wanted the opportunity to play for a major program and in front of big crowds. But in the offseason, he wanted to be somewhere comfortable. I know he has family up there so that played a part in his choice."
Jenkins is the second player from Coral Park to commit to a major school in the past week, joining wide receiver Juwan Caesar who committed to Michigan State.
Jenkins joins other notable South Florida players that have committed to FSU - Miami Central RB Devonta Freeman, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas WR Rashad Greene and OL Bobby Hart, Miami Jackson OL Ruben Carter, and Nova DL Nile Lawrence-Stample.

Who did he announce to and where did the announcement take place? Thx

I really hope you didn't steal his thunder since he planned on announcing on Thursday at 5pm on ESPN Radio.

Yea. That would suck for him if they pulled his spot. You only get to commit once... ok, maybe not, but you get the point.

Clarification: By "spot", I meant the radio spot. And they would pull it since it was reported two days before he was set to announce.

This is pretty effed up of this blog to blow a High School kid's announcement.

Sounds premature or like someone here trying to scoop everyone else considering Arrington was planning to announce on the radio Thursday.

Well obviously Jenkins must have announced it to somebody if the newspaper found out about it.

Hey Mr. Johnson, I'm sure the blogger knew about when Arrington was announcing like everyone else did. It was his choice to break the story. STFU.
