Russell, Finnie and Long on radio

All-Star games, commitments and National Signing Day highlight the Maroone High School Gridiron Report as the show shifts back to Wednesday this week from 9-10 p.m. on WQAM (560 AM).

Larry Blustein and Mike Levine welcome Twan Russell of the Miami Dolphins and the Under Armour Dade vs. Broward game, Miami Central defensive back and recent Miami commitment Thomas Finnie and ESPN Florida high school football analyst Corey Long.

The Inaugural Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Star Football Game presented by Under Armour and hosted by the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) and the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) will be held at Traz Powell Stadium (11380 NW 27th Ave in Miami), on Friday, January 14th at 7:00pm.

As a supporter of high school football in South Florida, Russell, Director of Youth Programs for the Miami Dolphins, has been behind this game, attracting top-flight players and coaches
Mark Guandolo of Cypress Bay High School will coach the Broward All-Star Team and Coach Daryle Heidelburg of the 3A state runner-up Miami Norland Vikings, will coach the Dade All-Star Team.

This has been quite a year for Finnie, who helped guide his Rockets to the school's first ever 6A state football title, received plenty of interest from major colleges across the country, giving his verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina.

Things have changed for the quality defensive back last week when he was offered by his hometown school, Miami, and decided to make the switch, giving head coach Al Golden and his staff an elite recruit - from the start!

Throughout the past year, Long has tracked Florida high school players in places such as Oregon California, Texas, North Carolina and Georgia, watching games and camps along the way.

With National Signing Day now under a month away, Long will help pin down what the college programs are doing in the state, and were some of the local players may be headed.

This is a show you do not want to miss!
