Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will continue to shine the spotlight on many athletes during the pre-spring, spring and summer.
With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.
Don't forget that the exposure continues on FACEBOOK (Herald Recruiting) and via Twitter @ larryblustein.
PLAYER: Johnnie Durante
YEAR: 2012
SCHOOL: Dr. Krop
CITY: Miami
POSITION: WR
HEIGHT: 6-0
WEIGHT: 180
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: David Hudson

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Another one of the outstanding South Florida athletes who has flown way beneath anyone's radar screen, but that changed this spring.
Watching him for the first time last summer, this is a talented football player who can play anywhere on the field, which makes him extremely versatile and athletic.
As a receiver, where many colleges have locked in, he has very good hands, improving route running abilities and does have the speed to separate.
Having watched him play on the defensive side of the ball as a safety, and on special teams, this is truly an athlete that you need on any team. He played competitive 7-on-7 this spring, which has provided and edge from a competition standpoint.
