Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will continue to shine the spotlight on many athletes during the pre-spring, spring and summer.
With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.
Don't forget that the exposure continues on FACEBOOK (Herald Recruiting) and via Twitter @ larryblustein.
PLAYER: Larry Hope
YEAR: 2012
SCHOOL: American
CITY: Hialeah
POSITION: DB
HEIGHT: 6-0
WEIGHT: 160
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Cory Bell
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Surprise, surprise! Yet another top-flight defensive back continues to showcase his quality skills for all to see, and colleges are taking notice.
Here is a very quick, athletic secondary performer who has the opportunity to make a major statement this year. He has already proven that he can cover and make plays. He showed that all last summer and into the 2010 season.
So far this off season, he has done much of the same, playing at a very high level against D1 competition and has looked extremely good.
This is a football talent who will have his opportunity to really blow up in a good way, competing against South Florida players who are already on the radar screen. His father was also a quality football player as well.

The db's at American were so talented that the other starting corner and the safety are half of the nationally rank 4x100 relay team. Larry if he ran track this year could have been on that same team.
