HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Daniel Gray

Daniel Gray1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will continue to shine the spotlight on many athletes during the pre-spring, spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

Don't forget that the exposure continues on FACEBOOK (Herald Recruiting) and via Twitter @ larryblustein.

PLAYER: Daniel Gray

YEAR: 2012

SCHOOL: Boyd Anderson

CITY: Lauderdale Lakes

POSITION: CB

HEIGHT: 5-11

WEIGHT: 175
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: TBA.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: What this quality prospect lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in physical ability and big play capabilities. Watching him play last season, and into the spring this year, there is no doubt that this is player to keep an eye on.

While colleges have watched and admired what his potential on the football field will be, there is simply no denying the fact that this is one of the region's fastest football players, and for that reason alone, he is getting plenty of attention.

College coaches we have talked with are impressed by his size, football skills, physical style of play, and of course, his ability to run with anyone receiver he will cover.

His 4.3 speed was the one thing that first got him noticed by recruiting analysts, but when they saw he could also play football, that's when the interest started to peak. This summer and into the season will be important to his growth in the sport. Very confident player!
