Hamilton, Cooper and Marguriet on radio

Maroonefronters1
As we head toward the Fourth of July weekend, football is just getting started as the summer heats up with activity, and the Maroone High School Gridiron Report is right in the middle of all the action on Thursday night.

Between 9-10 p.m. on WQAM (560 AM), Larry Blustein will welcome in St. Thomas Aquinas defensive lineman Jelani Hamilton, Miami Northwestern receiver Amari Cooper and Coral Springs Taravella head coach Dan Marguriet.

UM BOUND
Ever since his sophomore year, the 6-4, 255-pound Hamilton has been one of the more promising defensive linemen in the state and region, and as he heads toward his senior year, the gifted athlete is now considered to be one of the best in the country.

A big play performer, Hamilton has already announced that he will be headed toward the Coral Gables and the University of Miami. It was a decision based on he direction of the school, coaching staff and a chance to stay close to home.

PICKING UP MOMENTUM
After watching three teammates receive Division 1 scholarships a year ago at the receiver position, Cooper is now carving out his own solid reputation on the football field.

This 6-1, 190-pounder has turned heads at every stop during the off season, and as he heads toward his final season at the high school level, this sure-handed pass catcher is now considered one of the elite players in the state of Florida with every college checking out his every move.

A WINNER
There is little doubt that one of Broward's most successful coaches over the past two decades is still making things happen as his Taravella Trojans have turned things around and will be one of the favorites to take home a district title.

Marguriet is viewed as one of the top coaches in South Florida, producing top-flight athletes and teams through a career that has taken him to schools such as South Plantation, Flanagan, Coconut Creek and now Taravella, where he had a huge spring.

His South Plantation team was stacked with players such as longtime NFLer Colin Cole, Fred Barr and Coles Colas to name a few.

The Trojans have a number of quality players on the roster. Another Dan Morgan out there perhaps!
