HERALD SPOTLIGHT: Jeffrey Jeanty

Jeanty1
Having the opportunity to watch many of the athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties when they begin playing football at the youth football level, the Miami Herald will continue to shine the spotlight on many athletes during the pre-spring, spring and summer.

With the chance to see the athletes away from the football field as well, we can bring you up close and personal with some of the top prospects in the nation - right here in our own backyard.

Don't forget that the exposure continues on FACEBOOK (Herald Recruiting) and via Twitter @ larryblustein.

PLAYER: Jeffrey Jeanty

YEAR: 2012

SCHOOL: Archbishop Curley

CITY: Miami

POSITION: DE/DL
HEIGHT: 6-2

WEIGHT: 270
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH: Greg Magner

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Two years ago while watching the Knights in a playoff game, this was a player pointed out as a future prospect to watch, and after seeing him last year and in the off season, this is someone who will play at the next level.

His quickness off the ball overwhelms offensive linemen, and his strength and knack of stopping the run or quickly getting to the quarterback has had several college coaches interested in what he does in the fall.

Watching him at a recent summer padded camp was enough to for so many who attended the camp to talk about his strength, speed and first step, which is simply is good as you get.

Even competing against some of the top linemen, including Miramar, this was an athlete who drew plenty of raves by college coaches who worked the camp. This is not the last time you hear this name!
