Darlington, Fishbein and Maisonet on radio

The Maroone High School Gridiron Report ushers in summer practice with the final week before teams start heading back to those productive two-a-day sessions.

Joining Larry Blustein on this Thursday night's show on WQAM (560 AM) between 9-10 are Apopka offensive lineman Ty Darlington, Elite Scouting Services President Charles Fishbein and Miami Archbishop Carroll first year head coach Rav Maisonet.

For the past four years, Darlington has not only set standards on the football field, where he has been one of the nation's best for his father Rick's Blue Darters, but this University of Oklahoma bound standout is also getting it done in the classroom.

While most student athletes are spending the summer lifting weights and attending camps and combines, this summer has watched Darlington take college courses and prepare himself for a senior year that could elevate him to the prestigious valedictorian of the 2012 class at Apopka.

As he heads into his final year, Darlington is the No. 1 rated student in his class, but he will have to work extremely hard to hold onto that spot. That is something that motivates the 6-3, 275-pound offensive center.

Through the past three months, there is nobody in the state of Florida who has watched and evaluated more student/athleteds than Fishbein. From Tallahassee to Tampa, Gainesville, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville and everywhere in between, he has promoted and exposed rising stars of the gridiron.

As the season approaches, Fishbein will talk about some of the players and teams who have made the most strides since the 2011 season ended in Orlando.

After putting Archbishop Carroll on the football map, popular head coach Jorge Zagales has moved on, leaving things in the very capable hands of Maisonet, who has been around football for many years, playing and coaching.

A promotionally minded head coach, Maisonet has taken his team just about everywhere this off season, exposing them to some of the better teams and players in the state.

This Saturday, Maisonet and Archbishop Carroll will host the final 7-on-7 of the summer when he hosts the First Annual Bulldog Classic, starting at 8 a.m. and will include Miami Archbishop Carroll 7-on-7 event on Saturday. Miami Carroll, Christopher Columbus, Belen, Monsignor Pace, Palmetto, Mater Academy, Killian, Sunset, Varela, Doral Academy, LaSalle, The HardKnocks Foundation and Westland Hialeah.

Archbishop Carroll is located at 10300 S.W. 167th Ave., Miami, 33196.

Taking over fo Zagalless will not be easy. (BIG SHOES TO FILL)But Coach Mase has done an excellent job in installing his system offensively and defensively.he has taken his skills to every 7 on 7 that he could and every camp avalible to his kids.Notice that I said his kids it was NOT easy but he has truly made this HIS team. (GO BULLDOGS)

7 on 7's are not real football. Doral Academy won everything on 7 on 7s when they had Jermaine Kelson and what happened when they should up to the Dog Pound? A 63-14 Tail Whipping to the Hand of Zagales' Bulldogs. 7 on 7 is not real football. There is no offensive line, run game, defensive line with a pass rush, NOT REAL FOOTBALL. I am disgusted as a former player of Coach Z's that we are going to all these 7 on 7 tournaments this is something he would never let happened under his watch.

gp scores again

That same year that Z's Bulldogs beat them, Coach Maisonet's offense put up 50 onthem and the defense only gave up 6 points. You are right that 7 on 7 is not real football but it has helped the chemistry of the passing game for their offense. Remember that in 2008, Gulliver's Darian Mallary led all of South Florida in Rushing so he doesn't just stress the passing game. He will have a better offensive line than he did at Gulliver and probably a better defense with all of the young talent coming back from last year. If you are truly a Bulldog, you will support the program. It's about the kids, not the coach. Don't let your allegiance to a coach cloud your feelings for the program that you played for. Maisonet is no longer a Raider. He's a Bulldog whether you like it or not. And btw, those 7 on 7's have helped Maisonet beat the Bulldogs the last 3 years that he was at Gulliver.

IF Maisonet was really a Bulldog he would change his stupid name from GP scores again to Carroll Scores Again. BTW he didnt score 50 points that year. Zagales Bulldog's beat up GULLIVER at GULLIVER for the district title and Gulliver got lucky they ran into a very injured Carroll team in the Playoffs. At the end of the day your still a RAIDER

BTW how close was your srping game against SLAP D*ck Barrington. Good luck this year! University already started scoring!

O and BTW in 2007 Gulliver got flown all over the country because they were God's gifts to 7 on 7. They played Carroll that year what happened. First they lost a fist fight then they lost the real game 26-6. Tell the Cocoplum Gangsters to toughen up COACH CELO GREEN!

To the former Disgusted Bulldog. It is nobodys fault that Coach Z decided to move on and do what is BEST for him and his Family. With that being said do you know how close we came to not having Football at Carroll this year? Of course you dont because you chose to NOT be involved. You chose to stand on the outside and run your mouth.Did you know that Coach Mase decided to take over a program with no money and no BUDJET? Of course you dont because you chose to stand on the outside and not be involved and run your mouth. As a current Bulldog I want to thank the 3 former players that have chosen to be involved and continue the Bulldog legacy. If you dont like whats giong on I suggest you move to Ohio and follow the Saints fronm NEW PHILADELPHIA.

The truth ;)

Knowing the program inside and out! The bulldogs face a real lack of depth that is certainly gonna hurt them and did not exist during the Zagales regime. Demadre is right again Maisonet should change his name already lol from GP scores again. As far from Maisonet goes I don't think you can say he's doing a good job yet. After one week of spring the team was in disarray. This team is fragile and not his team yet! The early season will decide alot for the bulldogs in which direction they head. Let's watch it play out. 1 thing we all know maise can talk a big game but he will never be Jorge Zagales or his coaching staff!!!!

To Buldog Parent I was closer to the program then you think you I was.

Its funny that when this clown got hired that all the players tried leaving mhmmmmmmmmm
