More than 32 million viewers tuned in to American Idol's Tuesday Memphis auditions show Nielsen reports. This provided President Bush with a great lead-in audience for his State of the Union address. Though down from last week's 37 million premiere, the current figure is still higher than last year's third episode as Idol continues to defy odds and grow viewers six seasons in.
Meantime, Taylor Hicks' fans are up in arms over Simon taking potshots at last year's winner. Like the disturbed and deluded Claymates these "Soul Patrol" people really need a life. Either get out there and support your boy where it counts -- with your wallets -- or just shaddup. Hicks' debut CD has sold only bout 540,000 copies, Clay's latest much less than that. Even season four runner-up Bo Bice managed to outdo those numbers with his disappointingly lame debut CD. Both Taylor and Clay were expected to do better.
