Claymates will soon get their dose of Clay Aiken love via CD's digital bits and bytes as their boy has reportedly signed a recording contract with Decca (home of Donny Osmond).
A new CD is expected in 2010. Given the label and his previous work, expect plenty of ballads.

Gee Howard. You are your usual sweet and uplifting self, I see. Decca is also home of Rufus Wainright, Placido Domingo, Sting, Dolly Parton and Boyz II Men. Expect quality music from Clay on this label, unlike the crap you get on pop radio, which I'm sure you love.
Cheer up! You now have more years of bashing Clay to look forward to.

And ya know what Howard? Elvis Costello is also with Universal/Decca. But I guess you didn't know, cause you just follow Donny Osmond. Just being helpful dude.

Aw, you should be happy. You know Clay's name gets you visits and ups your hit count.

Congrats to Clay. He is so very talented and deserves the very best.
Yes.........Clay still has MANY fans even after 7 years. Perhaps because he is more than a pop star!!

I am very excited about this move!
BTW - You must not have heard any of his songs from his last CD, On My Way Here - not all of the songs were ballads.

Change is good, and I think a move to a new record company that fully supports Clay is a good thing too! He really does have an outstanding voice, and I expect that Clay will give his all on his new CD as he usually does! I'm looking forward to it!

What's wrong with ballads?

Not only is Clay talented with a beautiful voice, but he is very smart. I am sure this was a smart move for him and I look forward to his next CD.
He is capable of singing a wide range of songs as was demonstrated on his most recent CD--"On My Way Here."
And, yes, he is much more than just a pop star.

Great news for Clay Aiken. I don't think RCA did much for his career. Clay is a talented singer and I hope Universal is a better fit for him. Looking forward to new music by him.

Decca Records has been around for years and they promote MUSIC not the crap you hear most of the time on top 40 radio! Hopefully now Clay Aiken will now get the promotion(that he never got from RCA)

As long as he is still singing, I'm there.

I am happy about the new label and am looking forward to hearing new music from Clay Aiken, ballads and all!!

Geez Howard why the negative spin. You haven't even heard what he'll be singing on his next CD, obviously you didn't listen to OMWH where he sang more than just ballads. He has versatility and is more than a ballad singer. This is a good fit for Clay, to bad RCA let this guy get away and didn't promote him. I'm looking forward to his next CD whatever it is.

Nothing wrong with ballads. There's a lot wrong with CRAPPY ballads, though.

Where's the "negative spin?" Decca IS home to Donny Osmond. A ballad singer. Simple statement of fact. And much more in line with the kind of music Clay does than most of these other artists listed here. This simple item didn't need a laundry list of unrelated acts.
Anyone who thinks Clay is going to do an album like Elvis Costello is clearly delusional and way too optimistic.
And anyone who thinks Clay sang rock on his last album has no conception whatsoever of what rock music is.
Dolly Parton is not with Decca. She has her own label.
Nothing negative about calling someone a ballad singer. Lot of great classics happen to be ballads.

Not seeing negative spin here either. Clay can sing a ballad like nobody else!
Clay is an AMAZING singer, and whether he sings ballads or up-tempo songs, the new CD will be awesome. Very excited about this.
Congrats to both Clay and Decca!

yeah, this was a pretty spin-free entry.

Eloquent, Howard, but could you please not mention Elvis Costello and Clay Aiken in the same post, unless you are talking about their cameo appearances together on "30 Rock"? I don't want to lose my lunch just yet.
Oh. Too late. I just had a flash of Clay singing "Almost Blue." The horror. The HORROR.

That creepy Clay Aiken FINALLY found a record label that would sign him! Even though it's just Decca, the label of last resort, at least he can, at long last, say he HAS a label. LOL!! Looking forward to seeing his next CD TANK, just like his last two or three did. Come on, Claymates, since there are so FEW of you left now, you REALLY have to buy multiple copies - I mean MULTIPLE MULTIPLE. The EIGHT or TEN you used to buy just won't cut it anymore. Well, it obviously didn't for the last CD's, either... Oh - and don't forget to unwrap the CD's you'll be giving as "gifts," so they can't be returned, like you've done in the past...LOL!!

Congratulations to Clay Aiken. He is a talented young man and his choice of Decca was very smart.
It is good to see he has the backing of some of the top people in the music industry.
Thank you for sharing this information.

Well, this is great news. I first heard Clay in New York in Spamalot. After seeing him, I tried to find more information about him and there are tons of YouTubes of his concerts.. He is amazing.
Decca has a good reputation so it sounds like a good match!!
