Shania Twain night on American Idol Tuesday means a night of pop-country guests on results show at 9 tonight. Lady Antebellum (pictured, AP), currently the hottest music group in any genre, performs, as does Rascal Flatts, the group Lady A supplanted at the top.
And then... eliminations. My guess is Mike Lynch is most vulnerable (even if he has never been the worst). Follow live blogging and Twitter commentary.
Perhaps even producers realize less and less people care to see these so-called Idols because instead of the usual group number to open results show, we get a performance from Rascal Flatts who sang their unremarkable new single, Unstoppable. Really wish they would stop.
The bottom three: Mike, Siobhan and ... Casey? This was Casey's best week. The fix is in so long as Lee remains in this competition. In addition to Lee, Aaron and Crystal are safe.
Next week Harry Connick mentors the Top 5 in the Songs of Sinatra. They are going to have the likes of Lee and Crystal, Aaron and whoever survives among the bottom three tackle the master vocalist? Not one of these people are fit to utter the name "Sinatra," let alone sing his music.
Lady Antebellum performed Need You Now. Still waiting for someone to write and perform a better pop song this year. A surebet Song and Record of the Year Grammy nominee, that one. Watch.
Casey bottom two?? That's a surprise given he was TOP 2 last night with Aaron. It'll be Casey or Siobhan going home. Mike's safe.
Finally, viewers cried, "So, you're Siobhan Magnus? That don't impress me much" and the Irish lass screams her last scream on the Idol stage. A passable outcome.

Lee should have been in the bottom three in place of Casey. But I think Siobhan is going home!

I think Mike is but I'd be fine with Siobhan and her scream going home. Show has no credility so long as Lee remains.

I like Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum. Question: why do they call it Lady when there's a dude in the band?
Posted by: Lesley | April 28, 2010 at 09:38 PM
make that two dudes in the band.

now if this isn't the oddest couple since jacko and lisa marie.....shakira and rascal flatts?

Sinatra week...very relevant...they really need to end this show. It's pathetic. Much like this Shakira performance.

If Casey goes, well, that will be good for him...hopefully he has a nice deal waiting for him! But still...

oh dear...i don't like where this is going. The last idol I truly liked went home in sixth place...way before his time...

I guess it doesn't matter if he goes now or in a few weeks. We know Lee is going to win so he will have to go at some point. ALthough it would be "wicked cool" to see Siobhan go first.

Woooohoooooo!!!!

siobhan looks pissed and none of the other contestants look too upset that she's going...

Good job America! Even though I don't believe for a second that votes really matter...

Maybe Ringling Bros can hire her...she already has the wardrobe!

Siobhan had been dreadful for some time. Managed to make every song sound either lounge-singer or Broadway. A real shame because she had a cute quirky look, but zero edge to her voice. Thank goodness she's going.
