Where did runaway slaves headed to the Bahamas gather in South Florida?

In 1863 Abraham Lincoln ended slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation.  Prior to the Civil War the United States had participated in the slave trade.  Many slaves who wanted to escape used the “Underground Railroad.”  While most routes took slaves north to Canada, some slaves escaped to South Florida on their way to the Bahamas.
