Who was president when Florida became part of the United States?

An American president discussed Florida  in his Second Inaugural Address in 1821.  Speaking of the treaty with Spain which had brought the transfer of Florida to the United States he said, “to the acquisition of Florida too much importance cannot be attached.”

Florida became a member of a (more perfect!) union on the last day of President John Tyler's presidency, March 3, 1845.
