If you've stumbled upon a recent show by Miami's wildest electro-funktacular hip-hop group ¡Mayday!, you may have noticed something missing: Primo.
The afro'd, head-bobbing bassist has left the group (The group's spokesperson would only say "Primo is no longer in the band"), but that hasn't stopped or slowed the group one bit.
Instead, the band's percussionist, Gianni Cash, has moved to a second set of keyboards (producer Plex Luthor plays lead on keys). Gianni essentially plays the bass parts on keys, and it hasn't dramatically changed ¡Mayday!'s sound or dynamic, which is definitely a good thing.
The spokesperson also said "Lots of new exciting things going on. Lots of new shows, new music, and videos."
In the meanwhile, you can check them out live somewhere in South Florida almost every weekend, where they often play tons of new music (including my favorite, the ridiculously catchy "Miles to Go.")
¡Mayday! will play at Transit Lounge in Miami on June 19 and Jazid on Miami Beach on June 26.
