Fresh off the impressive Florida Grammy Showcase win in May, Miami hip-hop sextet ArtOfficial was recently featured on Deco Drive.
The band, featuring MCs Newsense and Logic backed by drums, keys, bass and sax, is musically reminiscent of The Roots circa Do You Want More?!!!??! , with jazzy beats and clever introspective lyrics.
I caught ArtOfficial at Rock The Bells 2007, where it commanded a hefty audience (including breakdancers) despite competing with artists like Pharoahe Monch and Mos Def and Talib Kweli on the mainstage.
Don't believe me, though. The group performs throughout Miami all the time, and you can check them out for yourself in the near future, as they hit the stage at The Catalina Hotel in Miami Beach on August 6 and The Vagabond on August 13.
