According to a Sports Illustrated blog post (which cites anonymous sources), The Who will be the halftime performers for Super Bowl XLIV at Land Shark Stadium in Miami.
The '60s English rock band is known for such hits as "My Generation," "Baba O'Reilly," "Pinball Wizard" and "Won't Get Fooled Again," which has been the theme song of CSI:Miami since 2002.
If The Who does play at the Super Bowl, it would be the latest "classic rock" band to do so since the Super Bowl decided to take a "safer" route with its halftime performances after the 2002 Janet Jackson nipple fiasco. Recent performers include Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince, The Rolling Stone, and Paul McCartney.

Great choice.
The Who are excellent live and will fire up the crowd.
Saw them in summer of '76 at the old Miami Baseball Stadium.

OMG! I'll go just for the half time show! I'll pay big dollars for that ticket.

I've seen them five times and would go five more if I could. They will be far better than any super bowl half time show to date. They will ROCK the house.
