Leave it to Grammy-winning, multimillion-album selling 50 Cent to be stuck performing in club venues in 2010.
The rapper, who in the mid-2000s was one of the best selling acts period, has found dwindling interest over the course of his last two albums. His 2009 return to his hardcore musical past, Before I Self Destruct, came and went quietly, and his next album, Black Magic, promises to be a European dance music-influenced affair. Huh?
His recently announced U.S. tour, The Invitation, is scheduled to hit The Fillmore Miami Beach at The Jackie Gleason Theater on June 15.
Don't expect a backing band, dancers or elaborate staging. Instead, you're likely to get a DJ (who will probably overuse sound effects like gunshots, breaking glass and explosions) and 50's G-Unit cronies Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, who themselves have suffered steep career drops.
