It's been almost 10 years since Jimmy Eat World went from indie rock's favorite major label band to the 21st century's version of the Cars - dominating rock radio with their infectious single"The Middle" and a host of other songs from their breakthrough album "Bleed American."
Since then, Jimmy Eat World have continued on that path, cranking out another record every couple of years. In 2009 they toured behind a 10 year anniversary of their critical triumph/commercial failure "Clarity" - confirming their place in emo-rock history alongside Weezer and The Get Up Kids.
Tonight, the pride of Mesa Arizona will introduce South Florida to their 7th album, "Invented." It's an odd title, as there's nothing new going on here, save for a slightly greater role for keyboardist/back-up singer Courtney Marie Andrews. But if it ain't broken - don't fix it. And there is nothing broken in JEW's 18 year hook factory.
Tonight's show at Revolution is sold out. But don't let that stop you from going on a ticket quest. Someone's kid is bound to get grounded, and that miracle ticket your hippie uncle keeps blathering about may show up on Broward Boulevard.
