Previously, he was the business channel manager for 3Com Corp.
Johnson & Wales University has appointed Jordan Fickess as executive administrator and Tonya Evans as director of communications at the North Miami Campus.
Fickess has worked at Johnson & Wales University for four years, most recently as director of communications.
Evans previously was a senior account manager at a North Carolina-based public relations firm. She has also held communications roles at ADT Security Services, Spherion Corporation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Maggie Macaulay, owner of Whole Hearted Parenting in Miramar and a director with the International Network for Children and Families, has been appointed as the executive director of the Best You Can Be Foundation. The foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to inspiring children, teachers and parents to reach their highest potential.
Roberto Gonzalez has been appointed as vice president of manufacturing at Atlas Paper Mills in Hialeah. He was previously vice president of operations for Atlas.
Fort Lauderdale law firm Ruden McClosky has expanded its land use practice and added a government contracts and procurement practice.
Stephanie Toothaker has been hired as land use and government contracts partner. She was a member of the firm's environmental and land use practice from 1999 to 2003, until she left to work as special counsel to U.S. Senator Bob Graham.
The Miami Beach Mayor and Commission has appointed Deborah Castillo to the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority.
She has been in the hotel industry for over 22 years and is regional vice president of sales and marketing for Loews Hotels, based in Miami Beach.
Eduardo Rivera has been promoted to vice president of JM&A Group Project Management Office. JM&A is a division of automotive company JM Family Enterprises in Deerfield Beach.
He will oversee JM&A's information technology system development and support, along with providing strategic IT direction. He served most recently as assistant vice president of JM&A Group Project Management Office and assistant vice president of JMsolutions Project Management Office.
Scott Knutson has been hired as vice president of sales at Costa Cruise Lines North America. Most recently, he was regional vice president of sales for the Southeastern United States with Carnival Cruise Lines.
