Stuart N. Ratzan, founding shareholder for Ratzan & Rubio, was named to the board of directors at Temple Beth Am. His family has held membership at Temple Beth Am for more than 35 years. With two children attending Beth Am Day School, he and his wife, Mycki Ratzan, have taken an active role in the Temple's activities. He is also a basketball coach in the Beth Am Basketball Girls' Rookie League.

President of the board for the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade
Shirlyon J. McWhorter has been appointed president of the Board of Directors for the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade, a woman's membership movement whose mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. Previously, she has worked with the civil law firm of Clyne & Self in Coral Gables, served as the Assistant General Counsel for the Dade County Police Benevolent Association, was an Assistant State Attorney with the Dade County State Attorney's Office, and served as a County Court Judge before accepting her current position as the Executive Director of the Office of Civil Rights Compliance for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Chairman of the Special Olympics Miami-Dade County Executive Committee
Anthony Merlino, president of M&M Consulting, has been named chairman of the Special Olympics Miami-Dade County Executive Committee. He has been a member of the local Special Olympics Executive Committee for more than five years. He will serve a two-year term and will provide strategic oversight for the Executive Committee.

Partner named to the board of the Commercial Law League of America
Jeffrey N. Schatzman, managing partner of Schatzman and Schatzman, has been elected as an attorney member of the Board of Governors of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA). The CLLA is the nation's oldest organization of attorneys, collection agencies, judges, accountants, debt buyers and other experts in credit and finance actively engaged in the field of commercial law, bankruptcy and insolvency. He has been a member of the CLLA since 1991 and currently serves on the CLLA Bankruptcy Section's Executive Council.

Attorney appointed to Film and Entertainment Advisory Board

Parron, attorney principal of the entertainment and media boutique law firm Parron & Associates, has been appointed to the Miami-Dade County Film and Entertainment Advisory Board, which focuses on fostering local production for the film, television, music and entertainment industries. He has over 15 years of legal and executive experience in the entertainment and media industries. Associate professor and chief of Division for UM Miller School of Medicine
Olveen Carrasquillo has been named associate professor of medicine and chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Previously, he served as director of The Columbia Center for the Health of Urban Minorities at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
