Cash4Gold has named Shawn Kernes as chief technology officer. Kernes is a former eBay executive who prior to that served as the chief technology officer and vice president at StubHub. Kernes will oversee the development and implementation of technology strategies, engineering and technical operations.
Health Foundation of South Florida, a nonprofit grant-making organization dedicated to improving health for residents in South Florida, has elected Loreen M. Chant, Ana Mederos and Claudia Puig to its board of directors.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida has appointed Brenda Yester (pictured) to chair its board of directors. Yester, vice president of revenue management for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines, will help lead the nonprofit organization as it seeks to grant the wish of every medically-eligible child in its 13-county Florida territory.
Joining Yester are Guillermo "Willy'' Gomez of Mellon United National Bank, as chair elect, Lisa Bauer of Royal Caribbean International, as chair-elect designate, and Dulce Stephens, as treasurer.
MTV Networks Latin America has promoted Fernando Gastón to senior vice president, creative, content and music for MTV/Vh1 Latin America. He will relocate to Miami from Buenos Aires. Previously he was vice president of content for MTV/VH1 Argentina.

Bankruptcy attorney Jerry M. Markowitz, founding partner of law firm Markowitz, Davis, Ringel & Trusty, has been elected president elect of the University of Miami School of Law Alumni Association.
He will be installed as president in July of 2010.
BrightStar Credit Union has named Vanessa Gregory as vice president of human resources. She will be responsible for directing human resources and organizational development for the credit union.
Previously, she was executive director of human resources for Columbus City Schools in Ohio.

United Way of Miami-Dade's directors and trustees have elected Sheldon T. Anderson, president of Northern Trust for Miami-Dade County, as chair of the board.
Anderson begins a one-year term as United Way board chair this summer.
Todd Templin, executive vice president of Boardroom Communications, has been elected to the board of directors for the Broward County chapter of the American Red Cross. He will serve a three-year term.
