 Miami Children's Hospital Foundation has appointed Steven Kerr to its board of directors. Kerr is executive director of the Jack Welch Management Institute and is a senior advisor to Goldman Sachs.

Kaplan University appoints dean

 Kaplan University has appointed Thomas Boyd as dean of its school of business and management. Boyd most recently served at the college of business and economics at California State University, Fullerton.

Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce elects board member

 Wayne Pathman, managing partner with Pathman Lewis in Miami, has been elected to the board of governors of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

BankUnited names Senior Executive VP

BankUnited has named Harlan Parrish senior executive vice president of neighborhood banking. He will oversee the expansion of BankUnited's retail branch network. Parrish most recently served as president and chief executive officer of BB&T/Colonial Bank's retail channel.

Professional Bank names VP

 Professional Bank has named Mary Benevente as vice president and controller. She will be responsible for payroll and auditing. Mary previously served as a senior financial officer at Coconut Grove Bank.

Bupa Latin America and Caribbean names head of market innovation

Bupa Latin America and Caribbean, a division of Bupa, an international healthcare company, has appointed Santiago Irurita as head of market innovation. He will be responsible for implementing market research initiatives, developing market segmentation and identifying new products and services. He will be based in Miami. Irurita most recently served as strategy manager for Bupa Europe, Middle East, and Latin America, in Madrid.

Carbon Solutions America names chief executive

Carbon Solutions America, a project development, asset management and climate change engineering firm headquartered in Deerfield Beach, has named Sakis Asteriadis chief executive. Asteriadis was most recently managing director and head of environmental markets at APX.

The Seafarer's House elects board member

 Mark R. Houck, founder of the Miami-based law firm Houck Anderson, has been elected to the board of directors of The Seafarers House an organization that offers refuge, resources, renewal and respect to the maritime community.

The YMCA of Broward County names four board memebrs

 The YMCA of Broward County has added four members to its board of directors: Bryan P. DeCort, Mark Doyle, Jacqueline Howe and Dawn McCormick. DeCort works at AAA Parking in Plantation and is chairman of the Hollywood Office of Tourism marketing advisory committee. Doyle serves as the regional chief financial officer for Broward Health Systems. Howe is currently building a mediation and private law practice. McCormick is responsible for community relations and media relations for Waste Management throughout the southern half of the state of Florida.

  

 

Maritime Law Association names two members

   Florida trial law firm Leesfield & Partners' founder and managing partner Ira Leesfield and partner Mark Sylvester have been accepted as members to the Maritime Law Association.
