Barrett named principal at Roda Asset Management
W. Brian Barrett has joined Roda Asset Management, a Miami-based money management firm, as a principal. He will oversee fixed income strategy and co-manage its portfolio models. He is a specialist in bond markets, financial futures, portfolio management and interest rate models. He previously served as the director of research at Mellon Bond Associates and as portfolio manager at Mackenzie Investment Management.
New COO named at Miami-Dade County Fair
Robert Hohenstein has been named chief operating officer for the Miami-Dade County Fair. He will be responsible for all aspects of finance, human resources, marketing and entertainment at the fair. He was most recently senior director of marketing and sales at PARC Management in Jacksonville, where he managed a portfolio of 25 theme parks, water parks, family entertainment centers and NASCAR SpeedParks.
Ryder System promotes Sevilla-Sacasa to vice president of international supply chain solutions
Gene Sevilla-Sacasa has been promoted to vice president of international supply chain solutions at Ryder System. He will lead Ryder’s supply chain solutions business in Asia, Canada and Mexico. He was most recently vice president and managing director of Ryder Mexico. He will be based in Miami.
Cooper joins Fowler White Boggs as shareholder
Glenn M. Cooper has joined Fowler White Boggs as a shareholder in the law firm’s Fort Lauderdale office. His practice focuses on assisting foreign companies and investors with the legal aspects of establishing and maintaining business and investment in the United States, particularly in Florida. His practice also includes corporate, business and contract law.
Gonzalez named president of Miami chapter of British American Business Council
Carlos F. Gonzalez, a partner at Diaz Reus & Targ in Miami, has been named president of the Miami chapter of the British American Business Council for 2011 and 2012. Gonzalez, an international litigator who also is admitted to practice in the United Kingdom, served as the chapter’s vice president.
Bacardi names Furniss-Roe regional president of Latin America
Robert Furniss-Roe has been named regional president of Latin America at Bacardi Limited. He will work out of the Bacardi Americas headquarters building in Coral Gables and will be responsible for leading all operations in the region for the internationally known portfolio of premium spirits. He was most recently chief of staff and vice president of global sales, corporate communications and corporate responsibility for Bacardi Limited.
Green promoted to principal at Mallah Furman
Patricia L. Green has been promoted to principal at Mallah Furman. She will work primarily out of the firm’s Miami office. She has more than 25 years of accounting and tax experience for small businesses, individuals and trusts. Before joining Mallah Furman, she was a partner at a local CPA firm.
Gomez-Pina named corporate manager for Hispanic marketing at Baptist Health
Christina Gomez-Pina has been named corporate manager for Hispanic marketing and social media at Baptist Health South Florida. In her new role, she will be responsible for implementing a variety of Hispanic marketing and social media activities. She also will be responsible for overseeing Baptist Health’s presence at special events, fairs, media events and community activities. She was marketing director at the Miami Herald Media Company, where she spent 15 years in various departments.
Gallery ONE hotel in Fort Lauderdale names new manager
John Allan has been named hotel manager of Gallery ONE, a Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel, located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale. In his new role, he will oversee the operations and management of the 231-unit hotel. He was assistant general manager and director of sales of the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, where he oversaw the rooms division and sales operation for the hotel.
